Guide - Troubleshooting
- Always run the fault checklist for the fastest solution.
- Most faults trace back to: power/mains, empty CO2, closed isolators, blocked cooler vents, or a tripped FPU/thermal overload.
- Flat sparkling water after a gas change? Run a system purge.
Fault Checklist
- Is the fault with EcoPure Waters equipment?
- Have any power sockets been switched off or unplugged?
- Has the mains electricity board tripped out?
- Have you reset the FPU?
- Is the gas bottle empty, or has it recently been changed?
- Is there water to the system and are all isolators open? (Check water is flowing from other nearby taps.)
- Are the cooler’s air vents blocked or obstructed? (Clear any vents.)
- Has the carbonator or combi unit tripped out? (See System Purge, below.)
Flood Protection Unit (FPU)
A safety feature that activates if a leak occurs. It has three parts: a water block (limits continuous flow in a leak), a Pressure Reducing Valve (reduces pressure to the recommended 2 bar), and a Double Check Valve (prevents backflow – a legal requirement).
Resetting the FPU: the FPU is on the filter board and needs resetting if you consistently run off more than its preset amount (typically 8-16 litres).
- Locate the red push lever on the lower part of the unit.
- Open the still tap to release water pressure.
- Push the red lever up – it may feel stiff and heavy; keep pushing until you reach the top of its housing.
- Once it reaches the top, it will return to its base position.
CO2 Issues
Still water flows but sparkling does not
Check the gas hasn’t run out; replace CO2 and turn it on at the regulator, then perform a system purge.
Needles in the white zone indicate gas is present; once the needle reaches the red zone, the gas needs changing.
Suspected CO2 leak
Turn off the CO2 at the bottle and watch the regulator needles – dropping needles indicate a leak.
Leave the CO2 off and check the seal is in place. If it is, and no other fault is found, contact EcoPure Waters.
Checking the CO2 seal
With the CO2 turned off, disconnect the bottle and visually check for the seal.
If no seal is present, replace with the spare left on-site (tied to the gas regulator).
Changing the Gas Bottle (Food-Grade CO2)
- Turn off the empty cylinder; using the spanner provided, undo the nut fixing the gauge assembly to the cylinder.
- Remove the empty cylinder, ensuring the washer stays with the regulator.
- Replace with a full cylinder, chaining it securely in the holding bracket.
- Open the screw valve on the new cylinder – the gauge needle will move to full.
- To check for a leak, turn off the gas; if the needle drops, check the nut’s tightness, then re-open and leave on.
- ALWAYS connect the CO2 cylinder to the regulator with the washer intact and correctly positioned.
- ALWAYS secure the cylinder upright, away from heat, while in use.
- ALWAYS ventilate the area after any CO2, nitrogen or mixed-gas leakage.
- ONLY connect gas to the carbonator – NEVER to any other equipment.
- NEVER drop or throw cylinders or try to unscrew fittings from the container.
CO2, nitrogen and mixed gas can be dangerous – take care and follow these guidelines at all times.
Leaks
- Small leaks should be reported and monitored for 1-2 days – they are often just condensation from the cooling process.
- Larger leaks from system pipework must be isolated and reported immediately.
System Purge (Flat Sparkling Water)
This can happen after changing the CO2 gas.
- Turn off the carbonator, combi unit or countertop unit at the mains.
- Make sure CO2 gas is connected and turned on.
- Open the sparkling dispense point and run off all flat sparkling water until only gas comes out.
- Close the dispense point.
- Turn the carbonator, combi unit or countertop unit back on at the mains.
- Wait for it to fill up.
- Open the sparkling dispense point – sparkling water will now flow.

Still water not flowing, but sparkling is
Check the flood protection device hasn’t tripped (see FPU reset).
Water is warm
Ensure the system is plugged in and turned on.
Clean the grill of dust and clear objects from around the cooler to ensure air circulation.
Water is not sparkling
Ensure the system is plugged in and turned on; ensure CO2 gas hasn’t run out.
Replace CO2 if needed, turn on the regulator, and perform a system purge.
System stops working after prolonged use
Check the flood protection device hasn’t tripped.
Turn the system off/on to reset the thermal overload feature, which prevents the carbonator from overheating.
Only CO2 gas comes out of the tap
Ensure the system is plugged in and turned on.
Check the flood protection device hasn’t tripped.
Turn the system off/on to reset the thermal overload feature.
Quattro Filler
Bottles will not fill
Check the flood protection device hasn’t tripped.
The header tank may need time to refill – wait for it to fill.
Check the bottle shelf is in the correct position for the bottle size being filled.
Tank will not fill
Check the flood protection device hasn’t tripped.
Check that both the filter board isolators and tank isolators are turned on.
Check that the drain isolator is closed.
