Paul Proctor, Managing Director of EcoPure Waters, shares his thoughts on the issue of plastic pollution and Earth Day’s call for a Global Plastics Treaty. Read his thoughts below,
As the world marks Earth Day 2023, the issue of plastic pollution has never been more pressing. Plastic has become so abundant that it is constantly present in our lives, from our homes to our workplaces, and even in our natural spaces. The problem has become global and requires a collective effort to solve.
Currently, only 9% of all plastic consumed is being recycled, with the rest ending up in landfills, rivers, and oceans, causing harm to our planet and human health. Microplastics are found everywhere, even inside our bodies, posing a threat to our ecosystems and health.
In this context, Earth Day’s call for a Global Plastics Treaty is a significant step in the right direction. The treaty aims to create an international legally binding instrument to address plastic pollution, including measures to prevent plastic waste across the entire life cycle of plastic.
At EcoPure Waters, we are committed to sustainability and reducing plastic waste through our eco-friendly water solutions. We recognise the urgent need for action to protect our planet and support the call for a Global Plastics Treaty.
We cannot wait any longer to tackle the plastic pollution crisis. Governments, businesses, and individuals must take action now. The Global Plastics Treaty could play a decisive role in creating a future that is free of plastic in our food, water, and air. We stand ready to support this cause and urge everyone to join us.
As we celebrate this year’s Earth Day, let us remember that we have the power to make a difference. Let us take action to combat plastic pollution, protect our planet, and create a better future for both today and the generations to come.
